Timelines

Timelines shows one row per record with its selected dated events, including pings, as bars on a scrollable time axis. Scale it, choose the label column, group rows, and drag editable pings to reschedule.

The layout

Each record is a row. Events from the selected date columns are drawn as bars across the time axis, with weekends shaded and the column under the pointer highlighted. The axis scrolls in both directions. Optionally, Connect dates for each record draws a line between a record’s events so a sequence reads at a glance; the lines are visual, not dependencies.

Scale and zoom

  • The scale slider runs from a third of the period to three times it
  • Cmd + scroll on a Mac, or Ctrl + scroll on other desktop platforms, zooms around the cursor
  • Right-click and drag scrolls the axis

The label column

The Records picker chooses which column labels each row. Any column except files, notes, and pings can be the label, and it renders exactly like its table cell, so a Contact label shows the person and a Filter label shows the status chip. The column is resizable between 140 and 640 pixels: drag the divider, use the arrow keys for 20-pixel steps, Home and End for the limits, or double-click to reset.

Rows, groups, and sorting

  • Row appearance: Compact, Normal, or Enriched, like the Table
  • Order records by a column, by first event, by last event, or by record name, ascending or descending
  • Group by a column; groups collapse, can be pinned to the top, and offer “add row in group”

Working with pings

  • Drag a bar horizontally to reschedule; the length is kept and the row does not change
  • With a bar focused, the arrow keys nudge it by 15 minutes for timed pings or one day for dated ones
  • Click a bar to edit that ping; double-click empty track space to open the record
  • On touch devices, drag an editable ping horizontally to reschedule, or tap it to manage its details; vertical gestures scroll the timeline

Selecting and bulk actions

Select mode turns on a bulk bar with Export, Copy, Set Ping, Share Access, Mark read or unread, Delete, and the record Actions menu. Shift-click or Cmd/Ctrl-click labels to build a selection, and right-click a row for the same menu you get in the Table.

Saved with the view

Scale, label column and width, grouping, sorting, row appearance, and connected dates are stored in the active saved view, so a “Production schedule” view opens the same way for everyone.
